Fostering self-sufficiency through the beauty of handmade crafts
Refugee women living in Colorado face many challenges, among them the often daunting task of achieving self-sufficiency. By forming a crafts collective, these remarkable women are pooling their talents, skills and creativity to earn money for themselves while adding a little beauty to the world.
The women of A Little Something enjoy making crafts that are as diverse as the group itself, including:
Weaving
Sewing
Crochet
Jewelry
Beads
Knitting
A Little Something is a crafts cooperative. Proceeds benefit the participants directly, with 75% of each sale going to the artist, and the other 25% going back into the business to purchase crafting supplies.
A Little Something items can be purchased at local craft fairs and community events. As of April 2019, we will also have a small retail space in our studio where you can shop on Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You can find us at 1609 Havana St., in Aurora, as part of Project Worthmore's suite.
This nonprofit endeavor is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. If you would like to assist with sorting supplies, working at events, or with any of the administrative tasks it takes to keep the co-op going, please give us a call!
